ARA LAKE

Ara Lake is located about a 30 minute flight from Nakina towards the Northwest.  It is one of the favorites for many of our visitors to Ontario, Canada.

Ara lake is a large body of sparkling clear water that extends many miles to the northwest of the cabins.  It is full of structure, that holds many walleyes of various sizes.  Most are in the 16 to 24 inch range, but 10 pounders have been pulled in more than a few times.  This lake is well known for its big northern pike.  They are so much fun to catch.  The lake has many holes that go down to about 50 feet.

We have a PDF file of Ara lake for those of you that may want to print it out or look closer.

Click here for the PDF map of Ara.

Below you see a aerial photo of the area.  Click on it to see it better.

If you go through a wide channel you will come upon Meta Lake.  This is a much  shallower lake and is great for pike.

You will never run out of places to go and things to see on this adventure.

Ara has a new stairway

It leads from the dock to the upper ground where the cabins are located.

I just returned from Ara.  Tom and Russ, an old fishing buddy and friend of mine and a class mate and friend of Tom's, went to Ara to get it ready for the first group of fisherman to arrive.  We had lots to do, but we always found time to throw a line in the water.  And when we did a few nice walleyes were willing to give us a fight.  Below I have added some photos of our stay at Ara Lake.

This is Tom and Russ doing what some would call work.

Here they are again doing what we all do, waiting to eat.

Here is Russ with one of many nice walleyes we caught.

And here they are again comparing a double.

Russ had been to Ontario many times, but not to any of Tom's Camps.  One of his many comments was that he has never caught so many walleyes of this size so consistently.  We guessed the average size was about 19".
Russ was very impressed indeed!

Since I took the photos, you will not see me.  I was putting in a water system for our clients.  It provides lake water for warm showers and running water in the sinks inside the cabins.  Also I put a hose at the fish cleaning station.  All of this at a turn of a faucet.  Below you will see our shower and the heater that makes it sooo nice.  What more do you need?

There are two cabins at Ara.  Cabin #1 is a very nice 4 man cabin.

The above is the view of the front of the cabin.   I love the porch.  Very relaxing.

Speaking of relaxing, here is a shot of a close friend, Mike, and I doing what we do best on, you guessed it, on the porch.  Mike's on the left.  The other guy is me.

Below you see a multi year plaque that a group of men have made each year they came to Ara.  It is proof positive of the possibilities at Ara.

Now that is a nice Pike!!

Here you see Larry and Cory

Just a normal catch, just enough for a BIG supper.

What do you think?  Shall we keep him?

Here's the boss with a nice trout.

And here I am with my sons,  I just love it!

Just back from catching a few.

Double double!!

That's me and my son's again.  Do I look happy?

This is your view looking over the lake from in front of the cabin #1.

This a view of the inside of cabin #3.  Very comfortable and spacious.  It sleeps 6 people.

Here is an outside shot of #3 cabin.

This is what greets you in the morning as you head for the boats.

Just another perfect day at Ara.

Here is a sunset I just took this spring at Ara
It needs to be shared
